Evalex and Odyssey to feature strongly at SIOPSA 2020 conference
The Society for Industrial and Organisational Psychology of South Africa (SIOPSA) holds a yearly conference, and this year the event will take place between 1 and 3 December 2020. With the current Covid-19 situation, SIOPSA has decided to move the conference online through the Whova conference app. Evalex and Odyssey are proud members of the SIOPSA Executive team, and we attend and sponsor the conference in a variety of ways every year.
The 2020 conference theme is “Leading through Innovation: Navigating the new world of work”. With a focus on continuous improvement and the future of work and assessments at the forefront of our approach, the Odyssey and Evalex team are very excited about the conference theme, as it aligns perfectly with the nature of our business and our focus!

Furthermore, we are very proud of CEO, Adjunct Professor Pieter Bronkhorst, who was recently awarded an Honorary Life Membership by SIOPSA (photographed above). The award acknowledges Pieter for distinguishing himself with meritorious achievements and service in the sphere of Industrial and Organisational Psychology as a science and profession.
We are engaged in a number of activities during the SIOPSA conference, which include:
Kevin Distiller, our MD for Odyssey, will be presenting two ‘Asynchronous’ Case Study sessions during the conference. The asynchronous events are pre-recorded and will be uploaded onto the Whova conference platform, allowing delegates to view the sessions at any time during and after the conference. The first case study is entitled “Using gamification, automation, AI and science to improve a multi-country graduate recruitment process”. The second is entitled “Selling in the trenches: Identifying the Profile of a Successful Sales Consultant in the South African Environment”.
Evalex and Odyssey are gold sponsors at the conference this year, and we have an exciting online exhibition stand as well as prizes to give away. We are also presenting and discussing an exciting new assessment solution during our assigned demo tract session at the conference. This is our Evalex Leadership Evolution and Acceleration solution (ELEA) which is essentially an AI-driven leadership assessment and development programme. We are very excited about this solution and believe it will revolutionise the leadership assessment and development space. This session will take place at 11:00 on Thursday 3 December. David Bischof, our Director of Business Development, is also currently chairperson for Assessment Standards South Africa (ASSA). He has prepared an asynchronous presentation which will also be available on the Whova conference platform entitled “Assessment Standards South Africa (ASSA) – Moving Towards an online Assessment Certification Process”, which will detail the current activities of ASSA and the development of an online assessment certification system, which will go live during 2021.
